Summary of Responsibilities:
The Special Collections Department of Texas State's Alkek Library
seeks an Assistant Curator for Acquisitions. This position reports
to the Curator and is responsible for identifying and acquiring
significant archives of Southwestern writing and significant works
of Southwestern and Mexican photography on behalf of the Wittliff
Collections.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify significant archives
of Southwestern writing and significant works of Southwestern
and Mexican photography on behalf of the Southwestern Writers
Collection and the Southwestern & Mexican Photography Collection;
Maintain an acquisitions database and a database of all artists
who should be considered for acquisitions; Acquire the significant
archives in consultation with the curator, founding donor, and
other assistant curators; Write text for correspondence, proposals,
newsletters, press releases, exhibits, handouts, public programs,
and other written needs; Help develop written policies and procedures
for the Collection; With curator, manage all aspects of the acquisitions
process; Engage in professional activities in accordance with
Texas State University's standards for promotion for professional
librarians and curators.

Required Qualifications:
Required: ALA-accredited MLS or related master's degree; Strong
oral and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with a variety
of people including founding donor, head curator, writers, photographers,
collectors, galleries, dealers, appraisers, and other relevant
parties; Knowledge of Southwestern literature and Southwestern
and Mexican photography; Skill in Composing and editing complex,
professional-level prose; Ability to read and interpret books,
articles, technical manuals, and written inquires; Problem solving
and decision-making skills to identify and acquire appropriate
archives for the collections; Proficiency in basic math and accounting
procedures; Ability to effectively use computer hardware and software.
Preferred: Knowledge of Spanish; Understanding
of rare and fragile materials; Knowledge of Collection Development
practices.

Compensation: $39,960
- $63,707 annually depending on assigned rank based on qualifications
and experience. Advancement in rank is available through the Librarian/Curator
Career Ladder. Benefits include monthly contribution to health

The Collections Manager is a division-level hands-on position

| Summary of Responsibilities:
The Curator/Archivist reports directly to the Director of the
Museum. The Curator/Archivist is responsible for all duties relating
to collections management, including documentation, care, conservation,
packing, storage, new accessions and loans. The Curator also facilitates
research and photo requests, works with the Director and Education
Coordinator to install permanent and temporary exhibitions, and
assists with the day to day operations of the museum. The Curator/Archivist
is also responsible for collections projects undertaken by part-time
student assistants and volunteer staff. The Curator/Archivist
should be well organized, self-motivated and detail oriented.
This position is security sensitive and subject to Texas Education
Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal
history record information. Duties and responsibilities shall
include, but not be limited to, the following.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Registers and curates artifacts. Supervises receiving, condition
reporting, cataloging, documenting and storing of historical documents
and artifacts for preservation in the museum.
2. Exhibits research and design. Researches, develops, and installs
both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
3. Programs. Develops and implements lectures, workshops, and
other programs for community education to further the interpretation
of the museum collection.
4. Student/Volunteer Supervision. Supervises, directs, trains,
and interacts with the student assistants and collections volunteers.
Coordinates the schedules of the students and volunteers.
5. Public relations. Represents the museum before the media, governmental
authorities, and the visiting public. Responds to various research
and media requests for both commercial and academic entities.
Assists Director with production of press releases and other publicity
materials for the Museum.
6.Grant and fundraising process. Prepares data for grant application
process. Submits small grant applications related to preservation
of historic collections. Assists at fundraising events.

Required Qualifications: Masters
degree in humanities, library science or related field is preferred.
Bachelors degree required. Two years of experience as a curator,
conservator, archivist or other related discipline related to
the museums is required. This is a security sensitive position.
Texas Drivers license is required with a good driving records.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Crystal Bridges' Learning Experiences (LE) Division offers, to
an exceptional candidate, the opportunity to design and develop
an engaging tour program to include a variety of tours and tour
types that serve the Museum's visitors - from the region and abroad
- with general and specialized interpretative content that address
the collections and temporary exhibitions. Core to this position
will also be the development of a key resource of the Public Tour
Program, The Docent Network, envisioned as a corps of highly trained

for Museum guests. This position has two primary responsibilities:
Design and development of the content and schedule of a daily
roster of engaging public tours to be offered at Crystal Bridges
Museum of American Art (CBMAA): docent-led, digital audio/visual

Design and development of an efficient, effective, and rewarding
volunteer docent network that includes all aspects of administration,
recordkeeping, training and assessment
Having considerable contact with the public as well as internal
and external constituents, the Public Tour Program Coordinator
will provide leadership, management, research, production and
training necessary for the presentation of Museum-based tours.
The position's program and administrative preparation and presentation
will be performed at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art's
temporary site at the Massey building in downtown Bentonville,
AR as plans evolve and develop for the permanent site. |
Required Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for this position include, but are not
limited to:
Masters degree in art education, art history, studio arts, or
museum education studies
Minimum of two (2) years experience in the design, presentation,
and management of museum public tour programs and the management
of docents
Minimum of two (2) years of museum staff and volunteer management
experience

Summary of Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Curator of Collections, the Registrar
is primarily responsible for the preparation, management and maintenance
of all documentation and records related to the Museum's collections
as well as all incoming and outgoing loans and de-accessions.
The Registrar also assists with other Curatorial department activities
including but not limited to accessioning; exhibit installation,
de-installation and documentation; object rotation and re-housing;
environmental monitoring; and integrated pest management.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in museum studies or a related field with one
year of museum registration experience or equivalent or Bachelor's
degree in museum studies or a related field with three years of

The Registrar must be detail-oriented with strong organizational
skills; proficient word processing, database management and digital
photography skills; have specialized knowledge in museum registration,
collections management and storage practices and methods, object
cataloging, condition reporting, and insurance and shipping issues;
be able to work as part of a team or alone with minimal supervision;
and be able to climb ladders in order to remove and replace collections
objects and boxes in storage. General knowledge of World War II
preferred. Must have, or be able to obtain within ninety days,
a valid Texas Drivers License. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Compensation: The starting
salary for this position will be $27,500 - $30,000 based upon
applicable education and experience. Benefits include health insurance
