About the Role

This position will participate in the creation and execution of the organization’s programs/workshops and conduct virtual/online and in-person programs for children and adults throughout Fort Worth and Tarrant County in venues that offer an opportunity to dialogue among people of all races in order to facilitate discussions and communications focused on Fort Worth’s and Tarrant County’s African American heritage to promote greater cultural understanding and collaborative efforts to strengthen community ties.

Requirements

  • Command of Microsoft Office Suite and PowerPoint, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms; CMS Systems skills - a plus

  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to write for multiple audiences.

  • Experience with photo and video editing software are a plus.

  • Some museum curatorial and archival experience

Qualifications/Education

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Excellent time management, problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to assess priorities and work well under pressure.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, History, or African American studies preferred; or equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience preferred.

  • Knowledge or background in historic preservation, genealogy, museums, and the arts are a plus.

  • Experience with content management systems and relationship databases are a plus.

  • Experience working with media, marketing, and advertising agencies is highly regarded.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to attend organization’s/museum's functions, as needed, during evening hours and on weekends and work flexible hours based on the needs and deadlines of the various projects/programs.

  • Conduct in-person programs for children and adults throughout Fort Worth and Tarrant County in venues that offer an opportunity to dialogue among people of all races in order to facilitate discussion and communication

  • Utilize virtual and an online/social media presence to present programs

  • Must successfully complete pre-employment background screening
