Event Details
Transformative change doesn’t happen overnight. For the Texas Association of Museums (TAM), developing a board to meet the evolving needs of both the organization and its members required foresight, intentional planning, and a culture ready to embrace the long game.
In this webinar, past members of the TAM board will share candid reflections on the journey of change including the challenges, the successes, and what continues to inspire progress. The conversation will highlight strategies such as updating recruitment practices, refining nomination procedures, and reviewing core documents, all with the goal of cultivating a strong, positive board culture. Attendees will gain insight into how TAM built a board that functions as a true community of leaders—one that represents and uplifts the museum field while serving as a source of inspiration for one another and the organization.
Together, our presenters have decades of experience in all facets of museum work and continually support their museum colleagues by serving as both mentors and sources of support. All three also served as presidents of TAM. Chris Dyer currently serves as President and CEO of the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, Tx. Margaret Koch is the Director of the Bullock Museum in Austin, Tx. Michael Sproat serves as the Curator of Collections at Sam Houston Memorial Museum in Huntsville, Tx.
