Hank the Cowdog & The National Ranching Heritage Center

Tuesday, April 16, 2024
3:00 PM

The mission of the National Ranching Heritage Center is to preserve and interpret the history of ranching in North America and address contemporary ranching issues. In this tour, you'll get a firsthand look at a project that started in our education department that had a huge impact on our ability to tell this story to a larger audience. The project was a collaboration with children's book author, John R. Erickson. Erickson is best know for his Hank the Cowdog series of books in which Hank, a dog who is the self proclaimed head of ranch security, solves mysteries on a ranch in the panhandle of Texas. This collaboration has led to a special series of books, partnerships with school districts and regional education service centers, like minded institutions, and more. In addition, the collaboration has led to the building of an 8 million dollar exhibit called the Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center, which hopes to change the museum in a way that expands public knowledge about agriculture, specially ranching, in our region and beyond. Be a part of this discussion in the space itself on this exclusive tour.

Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes as there will still be some walking.

This workshop is part of the TAM 2024 Annual Conference in Lubbock. All attendees must first be registered for the conference at large here
