Organization Overview

The Brown County Museum of History is a wonderful hidden gem located in the historical downtown of Brownwood, Texas. The museum offers a variety of exhibitions which follows the decades of Brown County looking at prehistoric fossils to frontier life and the range wars, following along with the industrial growth of the county from the printing press and telephones to typewriters and bootmakers. The museum also includes a variety of history looking at frontier law at the Old Jail to the expansion of Brownwood's Camp Bowie during World War II. With an interactive kids' area, the museum graces its visitors with a little something for everyone. The Museum welcomes its visitors and relishes the opportunity to collect, preserve, educate, and promote history through a Brown County lens.
