Carrie Avery

Carrie Avery is the Teacher and School Programs Manager at the San Antonio Museum of Art. Avery oversees the START school partnership program, which is dedicated to providing inclusive, arts-integrated studio-based museum experiences once a year to over 2000 students in grades PreK-8 from five local schools. She writes interdisciplinary curriculum and leads professional development for teachers. Additionally, she leads training for docents and museum educators in student-centered best practices for school tours that integrate social-emotional learning and visual thinking routines that build critical thinking skills. Avery holds a BA in Visual Art from Our Lady of the Lake University and an MA in Art Education from Boston University.
