Professional Bio
Born and raised in the piney woods of East Texas, Mary grew up in a small, close-knit community that instilled in her a deep appreciation for history, storytelling, and the value of community engagement. She earned her bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Tyler and went on to serve as the museum curator for the 1859 Goodman-LeGrand House and Museum, a historic site owned by the City of Tyler. In that role, she curated exhibits, developed educational programs, and brought local history to life for visitors of all ages.
Following her work in the museum field, she served as Campaign Director for the United Way of Smith County, where she championed community causes and helped support 26 local nonprofit organizations. Her passion for history, community development, and the nonprofit sector continues to shape her work today.
Currently, Mary serves as the Heritage and Cultural Arts Program Manager for the City of Allen. In this role, she develops cultural programs and events that celebrate the rich heritage and diversity of the Allen community. From developing educational initiatives to building partnerships with local organizations and businesses, she is committed to fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts and cultural traditions that make Allen a vibrant community.
Mary also plays a key role in the preservation and interpretation of the Allen Heritage Village and the historic Allen Cemetery. Through these efforts, she helps safeguard the city’s tangible history, ensuring that the stories of early residents are honored and remembered for generations to come.
