Professional Bio
Melissa Rowland has over 15 years experience in visual art education. She holds a Bachelors of Art and Master of the Arts in Teaching from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Mrs. Rowland obtained Principal Certification from Texas Woman's University and completed doctoral work in Art Education at the University of North Texas. Her dissertation is titled Teaching Art Educators to Engage in Action Research to Address Teacher-Identified Issues in the Classroom.
Mrs. Rowland has fine arts administrative and teaching experience in non-profit and public education settings. In addition to being a classroom teacher, she has served as a consultant for school districts across the state of Texas, served as a mentor for new and pre-service teachers, lead curriculum writing teams, organized art shows and festivals, and designed and taught professional development.
Mrs. Rowland has a love for art and art education and enjoys collaborating with teachers, administrators, students, parents, and the community to create cross-curricular educational experiences that engage creativity and inspire a life-long love of learning.
