Description: 

Under the direction of the Collections Manager & Registrar, this position is responsible for the care and management of the collections and exhibits for the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. Responsibilities include assisting the Collections Manager & Registrar with all aspects of accessions, loans, cataloging, artifact handling and care, exhibit install and deinstall, and exhibit care.  

Responsibilities: 

 

Catalog incoming loans and complete condition reports. Generate new loan paperwork. Complete renewal paperwork for ongoing loans. Maintain loan records in the collections database. Complete condition reports for outgoing loans and assist with artifact packing. 

 

Complete accession paperwork and data entry. Catalog objects and complete condition reports.  

 

Maintain exhibit cleanliness and monitor condition of objects on exhibit. 

 

Conduct collections inventories. Photograph objects and update electronic records to improve collection database accuracy. Catalog previous accessions that have not been entered in the collection database.  

 

Rehouse objects and physically number as needed.  

 

Assist in exhibit install and deinstall.  

 

Assist Collections Manager & Registrar and other Museum staff with other duties as needed.  

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education: 

This job requires a bachelor’s degree in history, Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field.  

Competency with Microsoft Office suite 

Familiarity with PastPerfect 

Ability to work independently and efficiently with attention to detail. 

Awareness of AAM standards and procedures regarding collections care 

Familiarity with collections processes.  

Willingness to complete extensive paperwork and data entry 

Ability to lift and move materials found in the collections and exhibits.  

 

Working Conditions:  

30 hours per week   

Hourly Rate: 16.00 -18.00 per hour  

Work Schedule:To be determined coordinating with applicant availability and Museum needs.  

Additionally, as needed for scheduled special events, which may include occasional evenings when exhibitions open. 

Must conform to NCM dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures  

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame will conduct a background check.
