Job Title: Collections Intern
Reports To: Collections Manager
Status: Full time, Summer 2026
About the Position:
The Cowgirl is seeking a full-time summer intern for a total of 400 hours to assist with several large upcoming projects. The intern will be a part of the Collections & Exhibits team and report to the Collections Manager. They will complete special projects to assist the museum’s growth and meet their degree requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clean exhibition cases and fixtures on a daily basis. Monitor objects on exhibit. Catalog collection objects and enter data into the collections database.

Complete condition reports on collections objects.

Assist with collections inventories.

Assist in exhibit install and deinstall.
Qualifications:

Working towards completion of or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in museum studies, history, or related field.

Competency with Microsoft Office suite. Experience with PastPerfect or other collections management system preferred.

Ability to work independently with strong attention to small details.

Willingness to complete extensive data entry on desktop computer or iPad.

Ability to carefully handle fragile objects.

Ability to lift and move materials found in the collections and exhibits.

Compensation:
Pay Type: Full time, scheduled Monday-Friday, not to exceed 40 hours per week. $15 per hour.
