Overview
The Executive Director of The Old Post is the visionary leader responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational management, and overall success of the museum. This role requires a dynamic individual with a passion for art and culture, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and the community to enhance the museum's reputation and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement a long-term strategic plan that aligns with the museum's mission and vision.
- Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that promotes creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the museum, representing its interests to the public, media, and key stakeholders.
Operational Management
- Oversee all aspects of museum operations, including exhibitions, educational programs, visitor services, and facilities management.
- Ensure financial stability by developing and managing the annual budget, monitoring financial performance, and identifying new revenue opportunities. Lead fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and sponsorship development.
Community Engagement and Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national cultural
- institutions, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Develop and implement outreach programs that engage diverse audiences and promote accessibility and inclusion.
- Collaborate with the education team to create innovative programs that enhance visitor experience and lifelong learning.
Staff Management and Development
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate a diverse team of museum professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Encourage professional development and continuous learning opportunities for staff.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards, as well as industry best practices.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in museum studies, art history, business administration, or a related field
- Experience in a museum or cultural institution is preferred.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising, including major gift solicitation and grant acquisition.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences.

Working Conditions
