Director of Outreach Programs | Lufkin, Texas  

The Museum of East Texas in Lufkin, Texas seeks an organized, highly motivated Educator to work with community outreach programs. This position is part-time and paid hourly. First and foremost, the candidate must enjoy working with children and adults.  

Responsibilities: The Director of Outreach Programs will create and maintain community outreach programming, including: after school programs (will need a car); participation with community-wide family events; 4 annual Super Saturday events throughout the year; education curriculum and planning during school breaks and throughout the year in the Education Room; education classes for children and adults; volunteer recruitment and management during community events; be present an assist at Museum membership events; and assisting with all aspects of Summer Art Camp in collaboration with the Director of School and Family Programs.  

QualificationsCompleted bachelor’s degree in education or art is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be accepted. Applicants must manage multiple projects simultaneously, be organized and flexible, work well under pressure, be computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheets and data management, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to translate art skills to classrooms and build and maintain positive relationships with community partners.  

Hours and Pay:  Expected hours include Lufkin Independent School District school breaks, two days a week after school during the school calendar year (20-24 days total from 4 to 5 p.m.), 1 weeknight a month during school year for family programming at the Museum, some weekends, and half-days throughout the summer months. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience, starting at $18/hour.
