Program Manager – Full-Time Position 

 

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum, a 1906 Beaux-Arts Colonial style mansion with original furnishings, reflects the lifestyle of the prominent family that lived in the home for 75 years and their contributions to the economic, social, and cultural history of Beaumont and the Texas Gulf Coast.  

 

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum seeks an energetic Program Manager to develop, oversee, and evaluate public programs that foster lifelong learning, strengthen community connections, and expand the museum’s audience base. The annual calendar of events should include a dynamic mix of recurring, new, and special events. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Planning & Strategy: Establish annual goals, objectives, and priorities for the programs department. Develop an annual calendar of events for diverse audiences that combines a broad range of topics and formats, including lectures, workshops, tours, family days, and community festivals. 

  • Program Development & Execution: Manage programs from conception to implementation to post-evaluation. Evaluate and grow recurring programs, such as the lecture series, holiday open house, and SOAR Family Day. Create new programs that leverage staff expertise, foster local partnerships, and feature national talent. Lead program as needed.  

  • Collaboration & Outreach: Work across departments to enhance exhibitions and initiatives. Build and maintain relationships with community partners to broaden outreach and participation. 

  • Evaluation & Innovation: Develop tools for visitor feedback and program evaluation. Track museum and cultural trends to ensure programming remains relevant and innovative. 

  • Administration: Manage department budget and resources. Assist with calendar management and strategic planning. 

  • Other Duties: Support the museum’s mission and adhere to ethics and human resources policies. 


QUALIFICATIONS
  

  • Minimum of three (3) years of paid experience in public programming, preferably within a museum, cultural, or similar setting.    

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, education, museum studies, or a related field (or equivalent work experience.)  

  • Proven ability to create and manage multiple programs in various stages of development and implementation.  

  • Ability to build partnerships and collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.  

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.  

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and public speaking abilities.  

  • Proficiency with basic computer operations. 

  • Knowledge of local history or a strong willingness to learn.  

  • Successful completion of a background check. 

 

JOB DETAILS 

  • $50,000 to $55,000 annual salary range, based on qualifications and experience
